"Isn’t that what we all desire: to be the heroes and heroines of our own stories; to triumph over adversity; to experience life in all its beauty; and, in the end, to live happily ever after?...Heavenly Father offers to you the greatest gift of all—eternal life—and the opportunity and infinite blessing of your own 'happily ever after.'" Dieter F. Uchtdorf (April 2010)
It might sound like a fairytale, but we believe it is real. We believe that it is possible to be with your spouse forever. Not just "til death do you part", but truly forever. Here is the story of our Happily Ever After, but truly it is only the begining.
John and Brittani met in June of 2012. They lived in the same apartment complex and were in the same ward. Brittani was the choir director of the ward at the time, and John thought she was really cute, so he started coming to choir (or he just liked to sing, we'll let you decide). One summer evening, Brittani and John were the only ones who showed up for choir practice. They decided it wouldn't be very beneficial to practice without the rest of the choir, so they went swimming instead! After they were through swimming, John walked Brittani back to her apartment. As they were saying goodbye, he asked her to go on a date with him the following night and she said yes. Over the next month they continued to go on dates regularly (meaning 4 or 5 a week!). When mid-August came, Brittani moved into a new apartment closer to BYU (Brigham Young University) campus. After John got off work that day, he came to visit her in her new apartment. They decided to go out for ice cream and feed the ducks at the duck pond. They had a fun date, and as they were saying their goodbye's John asked Brittani if she would be his girlfriend. Once again, she said yes :)
This past Thanksgiving (2012) Brittani's family gathered together to celebrate the holiday. That morning, John and Brittani traveled up to American Fork, where her family was meeting together. That evening after dinner John asked Brittani's father for her hand in marriage. He gave him his permission and that Saturday John asked Brittani to marry him. They went to go see the Christmas lights at Temple Square in Salt Lake. After seeing all the beautiful scenes around the temple, they walked up to a balcony on the conference center, just across the street. They sat down looking toward the temple and John began to tell Brittani everything he loved about her. He told her that he loved her personality and the way she treated everyone. He told her that he would always love her; then he simply said "Brittani, will you be married to me for eternity?" She immediately responded "of course I will!" with a big smile on her face and kissed him. He then showed her the beautiful ring he had picked out for her to wear to symbolize their love. They were married June 1, 2013 in the Denver Colorado Temple for time and all eternity.
